LATISTA Technologies is upgrading its LATISTA Field software's current BIM capabilities. LATISTA Field version 5.0, released in June integrates with Autodesk and other BIM providers to allow users to view BIM 3D models, import the locations and materials into the LATISTA database, communicate status information in LATISTA into the BIM model, and access and mark-up BIM models directly in LATISTA.
LATISTA Field is a mobile and web-based construction job-site automation platform that is designed to work specifically on portable tablet PCs that project engineers, QA/QC managers, and superintendents can carry into the field to conduct inspections and review construction information such as building trends, construction issues, subcontractor performance, plans, and BIM drawings. Construction issues and information recorded in LATISTA Field are automatically time-stamped and categorized in reports, which can be emailed to subcontractors or owners for correction and review.
With version 5.0, punchlists conducted using LATISTA Field's inspection module can be illustrated with photographs and marked-up plans and will soon be able to incorporate BIM models for markup as well. According to the company, project organization will improve with LATISTA's projected BIM integration, as LATISTA Field will be able to upload area and location information from BIM models and populate the associated fields automatically. Construction quality improves with the more efficient inspection techniques and comprehensive organization available in LATISTA, so projects save time and money. Currently, LATISTA users can view BIM models, but information access and markup capabilities are limited.
