MILWAUKEE — Effective Jan. 15, 2010, architects and contractors will be able to download Building Information Modeling (BIM) objects for InPro Corporation’s interior wall protection and door protection products, privacy curtains and cubicle track systems, commercial signs, expansion joints, and decorative surface vanity and countertops. InPro’s BIM library will be accessed through the company’s website, the Autodesk Seek search engine, and CADdetails.com.
InPro Corporation said it is the first company in its industry to create virtually its entire product offering in manageably sized BIM objects. InPro’s BIM library will be compatible with all three major BIM software platforms: Autodesk Revit, Graphisoft ArchiCAD, and Bentley.
To meet the needs of architects and contractors, InPro will produce two levels of BIM object sophistication. Larry Dronek, vice president of marketing for InPro indicated that “in planning our BIM library, we consulted with several architects and contractors to determine how they use the objects.” Dronek further added that the respondents complained that they do not “like BIM objects that are too complex or ‘loaded,’ which slows their system performance. But, they do want significant detail available when the more-advanced design stages call for it.”
InPro Corporation is promoting the launch of its BIM library with the BIM with Rims Sweepstakes in which qualified candidates can register to win a 2011 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Motorcycle. The entry form for the sweepstakes can be found at inprocorp.com/bimwithrims.
