GIS Event to focus on the impact of Building Information Modeling (BIM) on GIS for Government Planners

HERNDON, VA. — VISTA Technology Services, Inc. (VISTAtsi) geospatial information systems (GIS) expert Gary Siorek will be a featured speaker at the ESRI User Group Annual Conference in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania on December 9, 2009. Siorek, a certified GIS professional, will lead a technical session on the impact of Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools on GIS for local community planning efforts and federal facility management requirements.

This presentation also draws on lessons learned during a Base Realignment and Closure BIM study in Alexandria, Virginia for which VISTAtsi won an industry award for best collaboration. The session will highlight and expand upon public safety considerations and analysis as it relates to both NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 1710 rules, as well as current federal anti-terrorism standoff requirements for the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and General Service Administration.
